  1. Yeah, instead of the mismatches you get bad judging :)

It is a refreshing change, I suppose.

  2. just very BAD scoring

  3. I used to love Olympic boxing and looked forward to every 4 years.  But they have all but killed it with the HORRIBLE scoring system.  Now, a fighter can get ahead by 2 or 3 points and unashamadely run until the final bell and then be rewarded with a victory.

I thought they were going back to the old method of judges using paper and pencil but (unlike '88 when 3 of the 5 judges between Roy Jones and the South Korean boxer were from South Korea) using unbiased judges from neutral countries.

Even the boxing magazines, who used to list all of the American boxers and their chances for success, barely even give any print to the Olympians.  Andre Ward was the gold medalist in '04 and he barely has any recognition 4 years into his pro career.  A far cry from the Olympic champions of the past (Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Leonard, The Spinks Brothers, Holyfield, Breland, Whitaker, Taylor, De la Hoya, etc)
