I wonder how many tons of CO NASCAR alone is responsible for putting into he ozone. They probably have there own hole in it.

  1. CO2 isn't what causes the ozone hole, that was CFC's.

Nonetheless, the same thought passed through my mind a few months back. I can see a future of electric car racing that would actually be very exciting to watch.

There's already a National Electric Drag Racing Association:

However, I would suspect that far, far more CO2 is emitted by the people driving to/from the races than by the actual racers.  So even if the race cars were replaced by electric cars, we still need changes to the general populations modes of transportation.

  2. Considering only about 1% of the vehicles on the road are hybrids, I think you answered your own question. I'm sure NASCAR adds to the CO2 in the atmosphere, but it's the individual who makes the difference.

  3. Because of an ancient concept called freedom. Look it up in your history book.

  4. Because it is awesome. GO Dale Jr. the exhaust that they emit has nothing to do with global warming. the only thing that I cant understand is how they can afford to pay for all of the gas.

  5. because base ball & foot ball games are much more frequent they are undoubtedly responsible for much more pollution than a few nascar races, not to mention all the traffic deaths that directly result from people driving to these events.

the same would apply to music concerts.

thats why I'm saving the earth by staying home & hiding under the bed with the lights out all the time just like you do.

lets pass a law that everybody else has to do the same thing we do & see what happens.

oh yeah lets tell them its all your idea. I dont want any of the credit.

  6. Yes it is ridiculous, danni. Racers should be more aware on their impact on our planet. They should try using something renewable for their cars.

  7. On a side note to the actual question, are you that much of a sucker to buy carbon credits?  You know that's just one big scam, right?  All you're doing is essentially paying more taxes willingly and thinking you're doing something positive.

  8. People still recognise thier instints and the importance that they convey. People are mindfull to the current green ways and if Nascar converting to unleaded fuel is any indication of that , 30 years from now all american race cars will race with electric motors.

  9. NASCAR is not too popular among the leftist alarmist type.  I am surprised they haven't tried harder to ban it.  CO2 has nothing to do with the ozone hole.  At least educate yourself before you start preaching alarmism.

  10. Probably not as much in a year as Hilly and Gore do in a  week.  Hilly jetting to three states in a day on a lost crusade and Al in his private jet (a real gas guzzler) to promote his movies lies.

  11. Well if you have ever actually BEEN there in real life it's pretty sweet to hear the roar of the engines.

The ONLY and I repeat the ONLY hole in the ozone layer is above antartica. You know why? The sun don't shine there... And wait a minute... What makes ozone? Oh yeah. THE SUN. Jimminy christmas, and you know people can like whatever the h**l they like, personally I don't care for Nascar, but jesus open your eyes a little.

So let me ask you, Why do people like watching people kick balls into a net(soccer)?  Why do people like wathining people hit balls and run around(baseball)? When you ask quesitons like that you can make any sport sound stupid.

So people are racing becasue no thanks to idiots like you, AMERICA IS A FREE COUNTRY. Thank you. I hope I answered your question.

  12. Because not everyone is a tree hugging hippie.  Don't get me wrong I can't stand racing but seriously denouncing NASCAR because they don't race hybrids, thats just funny.

  13. I think you have something there.A car race with each participant getting the same ,lets say 100 gallons to work with, would make an interesting challenge. If they all had cars that could potently get 40 miles to the gallon and the race was 350 miles,it would test the racers skill, courage and intelligence,as they calculate their miles per gallon while racing around the track.I would watch it and I'll tell ya what.Who ever produced the winner, would enjoy a great up boost in sales.Nascar fans are not just a bunch of beer swilling jack asses who love to see gasoline waisted, they are people fastened with the melding of man and machine, and the challenges that this melding presents.

  14. It probably not because people don't care about the environment, it's just because we don't share your alarmist attitude that cars are destroying the Earth.

  15. do you fly, drive , heat your home , cook, Well why not live in the wood you moron
