u.s should be the ambassador for peace but by doing this,it's well known that some country (like russia)will come up with retaliation (let's say by putting missile again in cuba) thus igniting the so called cold war again. r the u.s. trying to make war (we all know that u.s. were the #1 when it comes to selling of weapons of mass destruction) to boost economy from current economic woes?if russia and china do this,(made a pack for missile with a country that s only 115 miles from u.s. mainland),i don't blame them but i'm sure i will ba scared as h**l.

  1. Russia provoked this by invading Georgia.

And it's a missile SHIELD, not missiles.  A missile shield works by launching objects into missiles, thus destroying them.  The actual missile shield carries no explosives, and thus cannot be used as an offensive weapon.

  2. The idea of "Peace through War" seems to be the American motto as of late.  Sadly, this missile defense system, like all other military actions, will only lead to escalation - not peace.  We are trying to be the policemen of the world - troops in 170+ nations while fighting a 2 front war.

Few people realize the repercussions of having 100 or so of our military manning a missile site in Poland - if Poland is ever attacked, the United States will be directly involved because we will have people in harms way.  This basically means we are using our entire military to defend Poland and anywhere else we install these missile systems.  OUR MILITARY IS MEANT FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE UNITED STATES, NOT POLAND!

Pacifism is the only thing that leads to peace.

For the mostly uninformed people here, Georgia attacked rebels in South Ossetia.  Russia DEFENDED these people and then stuck around to ensure their safety.  Russia was NOT the aggressor.

  3. Oh well the U.S acts just like a predator globally, eager to set up their **** wherever they can. They`re obviously trying to encircle Russia. Which will backfire.

  4. I would suspect that there are those within the Military-Industrial Complex who are drooling at the prospect of a new Cold War because of all of the defense contracts that would accompany it.  In addition, there are the international financiers who always finance either side of a conflict, whether hot or cold, who always make out like bandits.  Like William Shakespeare said, "All of the world is a stage."

Why not?  I'll burn five points.  Edit time.  How many of you are two time Congressional of Honor recipients?  Not many.  "The Old Man of the Marine Corps," was.  Maybe you should read his opinion on war and the causes of war before you make yourselves look like fools with your answers?

  5. If you were a former Soviet satellite nation that borders Russia wouldn't you be a little nervous if they invaded one of their neighbors?  Especially when you are next to the same Russia that invaded in 1939 and halved your nation with n**i Germany.  The Poles wanted the agreement to guarantee their security.  Now they have a commitment from the US and NATO to defend them from a Russian attack.  Besides, if you see aggression and you try to appease the aggressor, it will blow up in your face.  Russian efforts to intimidate its former satellite nations MUST be met with firm resolve otherwise we won't be taken seriously and a much worse situation will develop (ie. Russian tanks in Prague just like back in the 60's, etc)

  6. that is what allies do they work together

  7. Well, there is a slight difference between interceptor missiles that stop missile attacks (Poland), vs. nuclear weapons (Cuba).

I'm surprised people don't know the difference and want to leave Poland, once again, helpless before an aggressive Russia.

  8. The Poles need protection, they can't do anything on their own.

  9. Poland is a US allie, the missiles are interceptors to keep Russia from aggression against Poland and the rest of Europe...

Recent aggression in Georgia points this out....
