  1. Like others have said, she didnt denounce Jamaica. She left JA when young. I don't believe that it would been so easy for her to go back to run for her home country because of the majority of her schooling and upbringing in the States. Also many of the athletes train in the US as well. So I dont believe it was anything like that!

  2. Your question is probably "why did Sanya Richards run for the USA and not for Jamaica".

I don't know, it could be that she spent so much time in the USA (leaving JA at 12 years old) that coming back to Jamaica 'just to run' did not make sense. US citizenship brought other opportunities, and she probably still is a Jamaican citizen as well. My first REAL guess is that, at the time, staying in the USA and being primarily a part of the USA track and field system brought more educational and other benefits.

As of the Beijing Olympics, this will no longer prove to be a wise path. The success of the Track and Field program at the University of Technology, Jamaica, will make it stand out as ONE reason why athletes stay home.

  3. she forget where she come from.

you should never forget where ur coming from ....no matter what.....

she didnt even mention jamaica anytime. mek she gweh

  4. she did not

  5. I thought about the same thing, but only she could answer this question.....I know a lot of Jamaicans felt betrayed but she has been in this country for a long time, she has her citizenship here and is engaged to a football player.....I guess she just took the easiest route to Beijing...lol!

  6. "Denounce Jamaica"?  That's not what she did. She chose to represent the USA rather than Jamaica because her family migrated when she was 11 or 12 and she has lived there for half her life. Besides, we didn't always have good training facilities and many of these athletes were training in the USA anyway.
