One of the greatest scenes in science fiction history (filmed in 1984). As a boy I remember watching this over and over and over again.

THINGS TO NOTE:

*At 1:06 note the musical score and combination of panning on Kirk's face.

*At 2:38 note the Excelsior captain's demeanor. Very well acted.

*At 3:37 watch the assured coolness with which Scotty acknowledges a job well done (this part was one my brother and I would act out a million times LOL!). Also note the power of Excelsior's engines we hear in the shot immediately following this.

*Finally, from 4:27 to 4:39 note how Kirk heeds Chekov's warning that their commandeered Enterprise is not out of danger yet.

Has feminism's insistence on equality in all facets of life precluded the possibility of contemporary movies possessing this type of acting and the nuances that come with it?

  1. Star Wars kicks Star Trek's AZZZ!

And to answer your question - no. Feminism has nothing to do with crappy movies like this. This type of acting is amateur.

  2. Are you serious?  Star Trek?  You need a batter hobby.  Feminism doesn't insist on anything but equal rights and the ability to make choices.

  3. Let raw potatoes stand in cold water for at least half an hour before frying to improve the crispness of french-fries.  Onions to...but they dont need as long 20 mins will do.

Sigh....dont bother trying to reason with him, he has been copy pasting the same 5-6 Q's for months now...(little loopy in the head...just dont aggravate the little boy dont want him upset now)

  5. i think feminism wont care less about some dumb programme for geeks

  6. I thought your main complaint was that FEMINISTS got women wearing suits.

  7. I'd like to see more women unsuited wakka wakka wakka

  8. I honestly can't see what your example has to do with feminism.  Is it your contention that women are not capable of competent or even great acting?  The trouble with the word "feminism" is that people make up meanings for it to suit themselves to such an extent that the word itself no longer has a clear definition, it means to what you point when you say it.  What you can't seem to understand is that everyone, any gender, and religion, any race, is entitled to equal opportunity, just not equal outcome.  If a particular woman thinks she can beat a particular man at a game of pool it isn't "hatred of men" to say she should be allowed to try, and to acknowledge her achievement if she wins.  The idea is have equality at the starting gate, not at the finish line.

  9. "contemporary movies possessing this type of acting and the nuances that come with it?"

not how any sane person would decribe anything involve william shatner and acting which is quite terrible

also consider feminism was big in the 70's long before this was made

then movies after it the 80's onwards is full of movies about manly men doing manly things equality hasn't changed the quality of cinema

  10. How old are you Trekkie?

  11. Feminism is premised on artifice and social engineering.  The fundamental tenet of Feminism is hatred of men and boys and advancing the interests of Feminists by any means necessary, whether in the Natural Sciences or elswhere.

Feminists will say or do anything to obtain what they want at the expense of more qualified and suitable men.
