This is because Darrell is contracted to FOX Sports, which from the 2007 to 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Seasons only broadcast the 1st 13 points races (Daytona to Dover).

He'll be back in February 2009 for the 2009 Daytona 500.

He works for FOX....the races are on ESPN/ABC now...You can count the day still Speed Weeks in Daytona and Dw will be there..

Darrell Waltrip broadcasts exclusively for Fox and when the Fox season is over the mother ship comes and takes Darrell back to the planet Waltrip.  He will be returned come Feb. 09 for speed weeks at Daytona.  Until then he has been cryogenicly frozen to preserve him for next season.

Darrell Waltrip works for Fox Networks. Fox does the first 13 races then heads it over to TNT for six races then TNT gives ESPN the keys for 7 races then ABC for the remaing races but for ABC you can see it on ESPN also, dear.
