Don't know why, but he certainly desrved one, for ability alone.

As for the answers citing religion as the reason, get a feckin lfe. Was not so long ago Martin O'Neill, born in Eire, Celtic manager, Roman Catholic, was honoured by the Queen. Where does that leave your theory ? Where it belongs, and that's in your own mind.

He should have,but to get a posthumous award it would take a nomination from Celtic or the SFA or Scottish parliament or a weight of nominations from supporters.It's not because he's catholic like shitforbrains has said because many Catholics have been honoured including Celtic players.
