My question is, if the large screen lcd and plasma tv's have computer input, just like a monitor, why do people still use monitors?

is there any problem if I use my lcd tv as a monitor?

Is it not as clear? And are there any other problems.

I want to buy a large screen tv and use it as my tv as well as monitor. Please advice.

  1. You can use a large screen TV as your monitor.  The only thing you would want to avoid is having the desktop displayed on your monitor for long periods of time.  It may "burn in" the computer image onto your TV permanently.

Looking at a large screen may become annoying - smaller computer screens are sized right for a short viewing distance.  Smaller screens also have a higher resolution for fine detail when looking at text.

It is worth a try, but I wouldn't throw out your regular computer monitor until you know you are happy with it.
