  1. Well I guess this depends where you live.  Any place I have been people are wearing saree, middy etc.  However, these people are generally not "swimming" they are wading, just going into the water part way.  If you really want to swim it is difficult to swim when you have lots of heavy clothing wrapped around you.  I am American and I am usually wearing normal indian dress for swimming and long sleeved shirt, mainly so I won't get burned but it is more difficult to swim (any I like to really swim).  Why does it bother you what other people are wearing?  Go and enjoy the water :-D!

  2. We wear swimsuits because it is primarily designed to be used in water, uses lightweight materials such as lycra, easy to dry and you can move around if you are doing your exercise or laps.

If you use a sari, middy (whatever that type of clothing means) and jeans - the material becomes too heavy when wet over a period of time and may hinder a swimmers' movement - especially jeans.  This limits your movement as a swimmer and at the same time, not too pleasant to see one person in the swimming pool using these material as swimwear.  If you are just wading over water (i.e. beach); this might be okey but if you are as active as I am - advisable to wear a swim suit.

  3. this outfit is not only used for swimming... they use it for Volleyball and Marathon race...

man use woman as commodity... by exposing her body... and women enjoy doing so...

we need to change this attitude...

  4. Saree & middy may be charming to look a girl swimming but these both will swim more than the body. And swimming in jeans is not charming to look besides making heavy in swimming.

  5. It's light and it make it more easier to swim.

  6. it is easy and convenient to swim.

  7. the clothes you have mentioned offer extra rersistence and take a lot of power of the swimmer in waste

  8. oooff wat kind of weird ques is that???u try wearing all dis n u'll get 2 know y ppl wear swimming costume.how can u xpect to swim in a saree or middy.can u move ur legs properly...

  9. It's hard to move in the water with lots of clothes on.  Swimsuits are better for that, plus they dry faster than material like jeans.

  10. Wow its been quite sum tym since i met a genius lyk you , superb question , hats off to you .

Of course you can swim in a saree , provided that you go to ur office in a bikini .

  11. A swimsuit, bathing suit or swimming costume is an item of clothing designed to be worn for swimming. Swimsuits are designed to cover at least the genitals and in most cultures women's b*****s. Men's swimsuit styles are swimming trunks such as shorts, boardshorts, jammers, speedo-style briefs, thongs, g-strings or bikini. Women's swimsuits are generally either one-pieces, bikinis or thongs. The most recent innovation is the burqini, a more modest garment designed for Muslim women; it covers the whole body and head (but not face) in a manner similar to a diver's wetsuit.

Swimming without a bathing suit is a form of social nudity. Special nude beaches may be reserved for nude sunbathing and swimming. Swimming in the nude is also known by the slang term "skinny-dipping". As an alternative to a bathing suit some people use their trousers, underpants or T-shirt as a make-shift swimsuit. At beaches norms for this tend to be more relaxed than at swimming pools, which tend not to permit this because underwear is unlined, may become translucent, and may be perceived as unclean.
