Question:

WHY SOCIAL SCIENCE MAJORS are INFERIOR-->THERE DOES EXIST AN ACADEMIC HIERARCHY?

The stereotypes are no secret...I heard professors all the time making comments like 'even a psychology major could understand this'...There prejiduces are well founded though:

Sociology majors year take eg.

Sociology 301, Sociology 303 ...two core courses and then all random intro options. Second year I'm taking Real Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Honours Calc IV, etc PLUS two political science courses at the 300 level intended for poli sci majors....

I'm taking my course load + what social science majors are expected to take

The drop in intensity between the two faculties is obvious ...just look at the program requirements.

It's irritating when I hear people talking about how difficult their sociology lecture was when we're doing the exact same courses AND being forced to take intense courses like Real Analysis or Differential Geometry ...

Although I have respect for you, you're not our equals ...and it really shows a lack of understanding to assume this.

  1. So what's your point? You want the social science majors to bow to you or something?

If you don't like the course load, maybe you should change your major.

I don't know what kind of answer you're expecting here, but nonetheless, good luck in your studies.

  2. You must be a lonely guy.  And if I'm the only one to answer this, your third posting of the same question, do I automatically get 10 points, or did I mess up the math?

  3. We're just as capable of doing finite math as you are. It doesn't relate to "Social Science" as much. Since we're not trained to go into the field of aerodynamics/engineering, it's unrequired. Duh.

Your professors' ignorant remarks and your remarks are just self-projections of your own inadequacies.

TRULY smart individuals don't make such low IQ statements.

  4. Man it's all relative. We have different interests. If you're a doctor and your car breaks down, a mechanic is the most important person in your life at that point. You need the help of someone who is not as smart as you and probably didn't even go to college. But you need him because you can't do it yourself.
