  1. Although you never distinguished or provided enough information as to whom THEY are, here are some possible scenarios:

    1) Maybe they ARE speaking Spanish

    2) Caramba is a common exclamation used in Brazil

    3) Your spelling and grammar are not very superior, so telling other people to go to school is a little funny...

    Fica na paz!

  2. Close related languages.

If Brazilians heard German and Swedish or Dutch they won´t know the difference either.

  3. Many people familiar with languages do know the difference.  People who have not been exposed to both may find it more difficult to distinguish.  A lot of this ability comes from experience.

If you are not familiar with the Scandinavian languages, could you tell which is Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish?

If you are not familiar with East Asian Languages, can you tell which is Cambodian, Laosian?  Which is Korean, Japanese?

I would suggest that most folks aren't being malicious in their lack of knowledge, just not familiar.  I'm sure that there is a better way of helping them understand the difference than getting mad at them.

  4. Yes, I am Brazilian.

Portuguese and Spanish are from Latin sometimes they seem however they are not the same. Who speak Spanish say Aí caramba and we say only caramba. Like whoo.
