WHY are some people so rotten???

Recently we had this new guy push his title around and demanded a discount at our restaurant. We gave him a discount but by "discount" he meant he wanted a free meal." For just his objection over a three dollar meal he stirred up trouble so much that we lost our foodservice business contract with that company. Apparently though he did not have much authority but he was the big bosses personal lapdog. We have recently fallen on hard times because that was our main source of income. Im getting angry just posting this right now. I am so mad i know what car he drives and where he works I just want to hurt him like he hurt my family but thats a stupid thing to do because if i get a felony i automatically get kicked out of my school paramedic program. The guy literally gets away free taking income away from a hardworking family. Is there anything I can do to seek some justice for what he has done? Is he just going to continue to push his weight and harm people like this?

  1. Are you sure there aren't underlying issues here?  Your contract with a food service company was dropped over 3 dollars?  There is much more here than meets the eye.  I suggest you put your nose to the grindstone, and not waste your time or energy with this guy or his boss.  Spend your efforts on getting another contract with a new company, there are many.

  2. I get that you are upset but if you want to help your family maybe you should write his boss a letter of concern. The catch is you will need to share your experience of what happened (how his employee behaved) in a nice, professional way. Tell him that you tried to accomodate his employee but that you are a small mom and pop shop etc and that you cannot financially afford to give away free meals. Let him know that you gave his employee a discount and that you did your best to accomodate him. Say that you appreciated his repeat business over the years etc. and you welcome his business again. Maybe you should offer him a gift certificate or discount lunch to make up for the misunderstanding. It sounds trivial, but apologizing for a bad customer service experience (even if you do not think you are wrong) can save your business relationship.)
