  1. You will need an HDTV 1080p and a Blue-ray Disc player, and the HDMI cable to hook both units up. You can also use a play station 3 console too.

  2. i cant understand half of what you said. but i think you said that you dont see a diffrence with or without hdmi cables. but you didnt say if your tv was 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. if its a 720p, or a 1080i then hdmi cables will do nothing. i dont even know why they put them in. the only thing it will do is give you digital audio. which is a good idea i guess considering lower end models dont have optical outputs, and some dont even have digital coax outputs.

hdmi is for running 1080p, or again for digital audio. now if you have a 1080p then an hdmi can enhance the colors a little more, you may see a little diffrence. the only reason you need hdmi cables is for running 1080p. blu-ray, and also there are 1080p upconvert dvd players.

so basically if you dont have a 1080p tv WITH a ps3, xbox, 1080p dvd player, blu-ray player, or hd-dvd player you have no use for an hdmi cable.
