#1--I have a child in 4th grade who has a learning disability and is suppose to have modifications made, "if needed", such as sitting closer to the board, fewer problems, more time , etc. She has a teacher who, instead of asking her administrators, when it was time for kids who go to special resource classes to go she saw my daughter's name on her list and asked "have you been going to resource class and my daughter said no and she did not send her and nor did she verify if her info was correct and made her miss it. not only that, i convey to her educational planners that loud noises and yelling scares her and this teacher and her assistant just insist on "hollering and yelling at the kids and now my daughter gives scholl the "thumbs down" b/c she thinks her teachers are mean. My other daughter had these teachers, as well and verifies this is so. It bothers me that they don't even think abt how this yelling, all the time, at the children is going to have positive results.
#2-- I have a son who is in honors class and he said he was going in his backpack to get a pencil out (it takes him a little longer to do things, especially when he thinks it is a distraction for others) and the teacher asked him why was he constantly going in his backpack and he told her why and she said "Some students don't deserve to be in honors class" and this really hurt his feeling. On top of all this our son our son is really shy plus smart and has come a long way with his shyness and this kind of set him back a little. Our son received the good citizenship award, and does every year, b/c he is a very obedient child whom many teachers say they enjoy having him he had 32 E's and 4 S's in conduct last school year and is an honor student. My hubby said he has a good mind to tell her that maybe she didn't deserve to be a teacher. Anyway, tell me why teachers say things like this. I am losing confidence in my black educators
