WHY do you believe nature gave MEN a longer REPRODUCTIVE life than WOMEN?

A womans reproduction life is from around age 14 to about 40 (high quality eggs). A man's repoductive life is from around age 14 to about 65 (High quality sperm).

Why do you think men are given so much more time to reproduce than women?

What do you think is natures purpose behind this?

  1. Because historically men have died at a younger age.

  2. well its called evolution, that and female reproduction is way more difficult than male so their bodies actually are to weak to continue reproduction.

  3. A man's sperm isn't nearly as high quality as it was thought to be as he ages.

In fact, preliminary studies are showing a correlation between the explosion in autism and the increasing ages of fathers.

By about age 40, both testosterone levels and the quality of sperm start to descend.

Sorry, boys...your "no age limit for sexual prowess" is, alas, looking like a myth.

And then, of course, the specter of E.D. raises (or, more specifically, FAILS to raise) its head starting as early as the 30s.

  4. nature born more woman but less man

  5. Before modern medicine, the length of time for reproduction didn't really make a big difference. . . most humans didn't live that long, so it was irrelevant.

Therefore, I'm not really sure that there *was* a purpose to this difference.  Might it have to do with that it's just a lot harder on females than males to reproduce and even just be able to reproduce?

  6. Since you are talking about nature and what nature wants I'll mention that it's clear that men are the disposable gender.

More men will die virgins than women will. What does that tell ya?

All women desire quality sperm for their babies, from the handsomest, smartest guy with the best social skills.

So that means sperm from just a few guys out of God knows how many others who are just left horny in the dust in puddles of their own rejected s***n.

  7. maybe cuz they got it easy.. what i mean is, they dont have to keep a baby in them for 9 months (which is actually not a bad thing.. im just saying about the PAIN)... and then delivery pain again.

    good question :/

  8. Well if all women could keep giving birth past a certain age I doubt women would be alive past the age of 60.  Childbirth is hard and we have to deal with it for 9 months while men give their sperm and thats it.  (Not saying that men have no hard part in it either.)  Anyway this being the case women cannot keep going on reproducing, which is why women get everything removed or go through menopause at an early age.  I think sexually (withouth childbirth) woemn can last longer than science tells us, but I do agree with you on males lasting longer because you dont have childbirth to think about or worry about.

  9. "I may be wrong on this, but I don't believe in erectile dysfunction. I believe women over 40 are less attractive."

    LMFAO! A doctor you ain't!

  10. I think it's more romantic than scientific to assume that nature has a purpose.

  11. No, you're wrong there. The quality of a man's sperm starts to drop off around age 35. Maybe it takes a longer time to drop than women's eggs, but don't expect to still be bagging women on a regular basis when you get your AARP card.

As for the part about women over 40 . . . GOD. You'll resort to anything to make women look bad, won't you?

  12. My own oppinion is I as a woman would much rather date a man older than me than younger. My husband is 7 years older than me, it seems that alot of relationships I know the man is older than the woman. So when I'm hitting my end of my peak 40 my husband will be 47. I guess men need to go longer to keep up with the hotter younger women :)

  13. because men will have no other purpose in life and nature doesnt want men committing suicide

  14. Clearly God is part of the conspiracy of The Patriarchy.

  15. You seem to be ignoring the fact that 50% men have a problem obtaining an erection after the age of 50.     Men also produce more sperm than women do eggs.   Quantity does not indicate quality.

Would you really want to see a 84 year old pregnant woman?

Edit:  Why I am sure all of those pharmaceutical companies just developed those drugs for no reason.   They should have consulted you.   SLS.......

  16. I  don't  know .  My  parents  were  older  than  most,  and  that  was  a  mighty  rough  experience  for  them  AND  me .  I  wanted  to  get  married  and  have  children  young,  and  nobody  thought  that  was  important .  I  think  it  would  be  much  better  if  EVERYBODY  became    sterile  /  barren  at  age  twenty  --  five .

  17. The mechanism of producing sperm is much more simple than the whole of the birth process. And to be accurate, sperm production in general deteriorates rapidly after about 40, not to mention erectile power.

As was stated propagation of the species is a factor and historically death in childbirth was quite common.

edit - That's an amusing take on the situation Mike, but surely not true. There are plenty of women 40+ who are attractive. As you get older your definitions of attractive widen..

Edit@Tungsten: You're right about there being no concrete evidence for sperm deterioration after 35, but the arguments against are much like those for proving a causal link between certain substances/conditions and cancer.

A random sample of men from age group 25-35 almost routinely produce strong sperm, random samples from age groups 40-65 don't fare so well; they also have hindrances like erectile dysfunction, failure to produce any sperm at all and other interferences brought on by general disease.

My father is a researcher in reproductive medicine in Britain. I am a medical practitioner. Although this doesn't give me total authority, it does give credence to what I assert.

  18. To proliferate the species?

  19. There are some 40+ women that are very attractive, but they probably wouldn't give you the time of the day lol!

  20. A man's body does not go through much to reproduce.  And he can produce multiple offspring at the same time.  Women on the other hand have to carry the child to term which requires her body be in better condition, and it takes more resources to keep her up.  (Higher calorie intake, stronger bones, etc. etc.)  I think it's nature's way of saying "Your body cannot take being pregnant" anymore to the women, and to the men it says "You can still impregnate plenty of women because your body does not require the strength to bear them"

  21. Can you give a link to where you found this information? And exactly what is High quality eggs and sperm?
