The Olympics are games where u represent ur home country where u were born. Yao came here when he was 18 to play basketball. Basketball was born here in the US so we have the most famous league. Yao is not the only NBA player not playing here. Ginolbli and others play for Argentina (where is was born). Dirk plays for Germany because he was born and raised there. Pau Gasol plays for spain because the was born and raised there.

Each person should play for the country they were born in. Yao is NOT American.
