  1. From some recent photos, I guess you could say that he's got appeal that, errmmm... crosses genders.

  2. Because he has good charisma in and out of the ring. He has never really been beaten cept when he fought Benard Hopkins in a weight division he didn't belong in. He give Mayweather his toughest fight ever. His losses to Mosely and Trinidad were contraversal. He is like the good guy in the white hat for the sport of boxing. Plus his Golden Boy Promotions is a fresh face in the promotion buisness.

  3. 1. He is a good fighter

    2. He is good looking

    3. Gives exciting performances

    4.He beat Trinidad

For lenzo 1, Mayweather is NOT the biggest draw in boxing. What makes you think that?

The only two fights that he has sold are against two of the most popular fighters in the sport De La Hoya and Hatton.

  4. Mayweather Is The Draw

  5. He has alot of Mexican fans and a lot of American fans.  Most fighters only have support from their country but he is really popular in both places.

  6. That's an easy one.  There are many reasons.  Here are a few.

    1. Appeal: Oscar is very articulate, unlike most boxers.  Some guys like to bash Oscar but if anyone cares to give credit where due you have to admit that he has brought a great deal of appeal to the sport.  He's a fresh face in a sport that is marred by negative images.  He came along at a time when we learned that we can't look to Mike Tyson as a positive representitive.

    2. Gold Medel:  He represented the USA in a way no other can do except to win a gold medal.  He was the lone Gold winner in his class.  He had an interesting story and, yes, he could fight.

    3. Fresh look:  Oscar came along at a time when boxing needed a new hero.  Leonard was gone and Tyson was acting up.  Oscar was just what boxing needed at the time.   He also bridged a gap between Latin America and the US.  Boxing was dominated by African-Americans.  Unfairly, we were lead by Tyson and judged accordingly.  Many Latino boxers under middleweight were unknown.  Oscar changed a lot of that.  I really think, when all is said and done,  Latino boxers and even the sport in general have a lot to thank Oscar for.

    4. He can fight:  Again, to all the Oscar bashers.  He won some close ones and lost some close ones as well.  But there are not many he didn't fight.   He never fought Winky Wright but then again he can't fight everyone.   Let's be realistic.  There was nothing to gain by fighting Winky.  It's too great a risk.

Look at Leonard.  He created his own version of the light-heavyweight title, hand picked the champion, wrote the story (two titles in one fight), then beat up an average fighter, all to create his own chunk of history.  Oscar did his things too.  However, he didn't duck or miss many.  Win, lose or draw Oscar was exciting.  He took the losses as well as the wins.

To his credit,  at least Oscar is now using his influence to try to do some positive things in boxing.  The worse that can be said of him is that he could be a bit self-serving.  Now show me someone who isn't.

Overall,  I think Oscar De La Hoya has been great for the sport of boxing.  He certainly brings a lot of good, overall, to the game.

  7. not any more mayweather is the draw now

  8. The fact that he's speaks both english and spanish expanded his audience great fighters like trinidad cant go on The Tonight Show like he does because of it. Aswell as his appeal to both male and female genders. He's also  a smart business man who know he has to appeal beyond the ring; Such as his grammy nominated album, and when it comes down to it he's not scared to get in the ring with the best of them Mayweather, Mayorga, Hopkins, Mosley, Varges, Gatti, Trinidad, Quartey, Chavez, Camacho and Whitaker win or lose he brings it every time and its why people are always willing to pay again and again to see him fight. He has the right mix of International appeal and s*x appeal, Intelligence and Talent and he comes off has a stand out regular guy unlike fighters such as Mayorga, Tyson and Mayweather.

  9. Because he fights the best fighters in the world

Because he has maybe 2 legit losses in his career and all were close. The rest of his losses were BS losses. Moseley Hoya 2 was a robbery, trinidad fight was a robbery, mayweather ran the whole fight... he is an amazing fighter and has the potential and skillset to beat any man in his weight class.
