I think some children are out of control because they feel unloved by their parents. When I was a child, I was rebellious. My parents just thought I was trying to be irritating and they raised me with spanking. I felt unloved and unwanted. My rebellion sprouted from that.

I know children who are rebellious and it's beause they get little attention from their parents, have problems at home or feel unloved by their parents.

The point is rebellion is caused by a lack of love.

to the 55 yr old man...90% of todays parents spank so I don't see how you can blame lack of spanking.

Why do people think spanking is the make it or break it thing in parenting? I mean give me a break already! Spanking is only one punishment option. It's not some miracle parenting tool. When you see kids out of control in the store you might be surprised to find out that parent does spank. They are probably lacking something else.

If kids are out of control it's because their parents aren't using any discipline or aren't consistent. Sometimes it's nothing to do with how they punish, sometimes it has to do with how they parent in general.

I have 4 well behaved, respectful kids and I have never even spanked any of them. People who think spanking is main thing that raises well behaved kids are ignorant.

Just yesterday we were at a doctor appt. and this mom was there with her 2 yr old and the two year old was pulling at a plant and the mom called her to come here like 5 times she said "keesha come over here" 5 times and when the little girl ignored her she said "okaaay whatever keesha" and continued reading her magazine. THAT is the reason for out of control kids today. She didn't  take any action at all. It's not because she didn't spank the kid, it's because she did nothing.

and you can thumb me down all you want, you know what I am saying is true and all the thumbs down will only prove my point that the majority of parents spank which proves lack of spanking is NOT the problem.

your talking about the baby boomer's kids, the parents that believed in sparing the rod and spoiling the child, i assume. They didn't like the way their parent's raised them so they went to the extereme opposite and did everything different. We are now seeing the results of the "no discipline" parenting. Hopefully, as these kids start having kids of their own, they will discipline their children and teach them right from wrong more so then their parents did.

because the parents aren't allowed to spank their own kids anymore, because the gov't will interfere.. and, no, I'm not condoning abusing the kids, just discipline, like I had when I grew up..

What do you mean by out of control? I see so many happy kids around me. My own daughter included. I am not sure what you mean by 'out of control'? All kids have their moments/.
