Question:

WHY were contraceptive pills invented when their side effects mimic PMT?!?

I'm on Cerazette right now (for PMS) and have been for a week. Thus far, I've slept well for the first five nights (while on), slept and felt like utter shite for the past two and feel 'dry'. Although, at least my periods are lighter... I guess.

Side effects include weight gain, breast pain, vaginal bleeding, loss of libido and mood changes. WHY WHY WHY?!

I'm overweight as is, so why the h**l should I take them?! Quite frankly, I think I'd rather have natural PMS!

  1. Hi, I'm on my 2nd month of Cerazette for the same reason plus the fact my periods are excruciating. I was very close to giving up during the first month but I just want to reassure you, it honestly does get better. Give it 3 months as that's how long it takes for your body to get used to it and then way up the pros and cons. I am trying to stick with it as the good side effects really outweigh the bad for me, as long as they fade away! I can't take the combined pill anymore due to migraines. If you can take the combined pill, why not switch to that and run 2 packs together and then have your week off? I used to do that and it helped my PMT - this was all recommended by my Gynaecologist. If you do opt for tyhis, you must get a pill that's low in oestrogen (which causes the bad effects) so try Mercilon for instance.

If you can only take the POP, stick with Cerazette for a while but make sure you keep an eye on what you eat (it made me ravenous for a month then I put on about 6 pounds..).

I know that it is hard. I got thrush and cystitis when I started this pill and that wasn't good at all. But that's all gone and now I just have a little irregular bleeding and I had a very light period when I was due, and it wasn't as painful. This should settle and then in a few months hopefully I'll have less bleeding.

I felt very depressed for a few weeks too, but that has subsided. Do talk to your doctor about these things though as there are things that can help.

I hope it gets better for you very soon. Give it some more time and then see where you want to go from there. Good luck xx

  2. Contraceptive pills were invented to prevent pregnancy.  Not everyone has side effects, but many people put up with the side effects because they prefer that to being pregnant.  If you're only taking them for PMS and it's not helping, of course there's no reason to continue.  However, keep in mind that often side effects diminish or disappear after a month or so.

  3. The first thing you need to do is figure out why your s*x drive is low and try to help get it back.  I was in your situation and it's not fun without being horny and feeling in the mood when needed.  I also felt like my orgasms (if I would even get one) were really weak.  Probably because of my s*x drive.

However, I tried exercising and dieting but nothing seemed to be working.  I thought I was screwed.  I then found something just as amazing as the vibrator.

My friend at work told me about this stuff she took to raise her s*x drive.  It was a natural herbal supplement and was I lucky to of found it.  Theres no side effects and the s*x drive is just tremendous along with orgasms that are blasting.  The stuff is called Hersolution pills.  At the time I saved money on them at herenhancement.com

What I did was tried out for 3 months and that was really it.  I found taking them every other day or so was the best to stretch it out. After the months were up, I was back to normal with a beating s*x drive and my o****m strength in increased so much.

Well good luck and I hope this helps.

  4. My answer to that is-  maybe a male invented them all lol.  Seriously the pill can cause your body to have side effects (as does most any medication) for the first few months but then they usually go away.  If a lot of the symptoms persist you may want to see your doctor and try a different brand.
