WHat are some good sport bikes for under $3,000?

My cousin has recently been interested in buying a beginner sport bike that is reliable and cheap. Something in the 125 to maybe 250cc bikes. He plans to drive on the freeway moderately and wants a little bit of kick for acceleration. Please leave any available sites for new or used motorcycle sites that would help. He lives in salt lake city if you know of any thing generally close to there it would help.Thanks.

If you by a used sport bike, you can bet some kid has beat it to death.

Buy a new one, save yourself the hassle

Agree with Al.  125 to 250 is par for Utah offroad but jack rabbits probably live longer on Interstate between SLC and

Tremonton than these boy toys.

highway riding and kick for acceleration means you need something higher than 250cc. For $3K you can get a good CBR F3 or F4i. Even a Katana or YZF600. Any othe the 600s from like 98 to 04 fall in that price range. The 250s and 500s are too light for highway riding. the cross winds make it hard and they lack the power to pass efficiently or scoot out of the way of danger.
