WHat are the green and blue rca wires for?

So i just got a hdtv,and it and my dvd have the green and blue rca inputs.i was wondering what there for and what there called?are they for hd? if so,is it better to use them or the hdmi?

  1. There should be 3 wires: Red Green Blue.

    These are component jacks. The can feed standard def, or high def video signals to the TV (whatever the other side wants to feed.)

    Component - analog video

    HDMI - digital (video and audio)

    Because it's digital, because the cables are cheaper, because it carries both video and audio, HDMI is the preferred connection.

    There ARE some problems with HDMI, but as more and more devices surpport it - the problems are going away.  It's not perfect, but it is the future.

The green, Red, and blue wires are component cables and are similar to RCA cables (now called composite cables) in that they transfer the audio and video to the tv (or whatever the device is that you want to send the signal to) they must be plugged into Component inputs, and yes, they will transfer HD signals.
