  1. Hitch - one step and look in

Swing - a banana shaped route run behind the L.O.S.

Slant - 2 steps and 45 degree angle cut to inside

Out - 5 yards and 90 degree cut to outside

Curl - 8 to 12 yards and turn back in towards QB

Drag - 5 to 10 yards deep and run acroos field to opposite side

Comeback - 10 to 15 yards and turn back to the outside ( toward side line)

Deep out - 15 or more yards and turn 90 degrees to side line

Dig - 15 or more yards turn in 90 degrees and work towards middle

Post - 12 yards and break 45 degrees toward goal post

Corner - 12 yards and break 45 degrees toward corner of endzone

Slant/Corner or Post/Corner - start slant or post route and break after 3 steps for corner

Wheel - usually run as an out and up or swing and up. Turns a short route into a deep one.

Deep Cross - Basically a drag route run far deeper almost like an opposite corner route.

There are others but this is a basic look. Every coach uses his own terms for routes and depths to run them.
