  1. decorating the tree dinner together movies singing music

  2. For Christmas at my house we each get to open one gift on Christmas Eve, and its ALWAYS new pajamas. On Christmas morning we make fancy coffee and wear our new jammies to open presents. We always open our stockings first!! I can't wait for Christmas this year!!

  3. Our children each get a new ornament each specifically depicting whatever their main interest was that year. This they open Christmas Eve before bed and add to the tree which already has their old ones on it. Christmas morning, one of the kids unwraps Baby Jesus who has been wrapped in tissue in the nativity set. They are allowed to open one gift an hour until whatever guests we are expecting arrive. I have joint custody of one of my children so we actually only celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day every other year. It will work as she will be on her own by the time our next begins school and knows the difference. I have only been married to my husband 4 years and our children are only 2 1/2 and 9 months so we are still developing a blend of our traditions as our own family. With my oldest, who is now 14, we made reindeer food for several years. She was always excited to go out the next morning to see the glitter the reindeer left behind(actually the glitter we put in the reindeer food that the ants can't eat :P)

Growing up I remember several years we would be woken at about 2 AM since my father was working nights. We would open gifts so he could go to sleep undisturbed...well as much as a houseful of excited kids would leave him lol

This year will be our first Christmas that we are leaving home for the holidays as a family. It will be interesting to see what develops.

  4. hahaa i love christmas...there are 5 kids in my family, oldest is 24 and the youngest is 16 but we all still get super excited about christmas.  When my parents wrapp the presents before christmas, we always shake the gifts and try to figure out what they are.  Our traditions are numerous... we are definilty a traditon type of family, we love to do them.  Always the day after thanksgiving we haul out the decorations while my mom goes shopping, listen to christmas music and decorate the house. I love it.

Christmas Eve we always hang out and play games all day.  In the evening watch a christmas movie then drive around for hours looking at christmas lights, which is my favorite!

Christmas day we wake up early, look in our stockings all at the same time and then open presents one by one and this usually takes us a couple hours.  Then spend the day visiting family and just having fun with our new stuff...i love it!

  5. My family (my brothers' families and me) is HUGE.  We have a get together a week or two before Christmas.  We buy stuff for the little kids, but the adults...we have the gift game.  Everybody brings a gift worth around $5.  We put them all on a big table.  Everyone draws a number out of a hat.  #1 picks a gift from the table and opens it.  #2 can pick a gift, or steal #1's gift, which would send #1 back to the table for another gift.  #3 can pick an opened or unopened gift, and so on.  It's a lot of fun because people always bring gifts that others want to steal.  It can go on for a long time...

My husband, son and I are working out our own traditions.  On Xmas eve, we all get brand new pajamas to wear, because the next morning we are taking so many pictures and we want to look good!  We're going to figure out more traditions...

  6. Enjoy those times while you can...When I was young we did lots of fun stuff like that but now Christmas is just another day.

  7. On x-mas eve we go to the christmas film at the cinema, have a buffet at home, (still leave milk and cookies for santa!) play family games, and deliver people's presents to their houses.

during advent we spend time decorating the house, making decorations gifts and cards, christmas shopping, making x-mas cds and spending time together as a family.

    on christmas:

wake up about 9am, go into my dad's room along with my bro, open my stocking which is full of cute things and chocolates, smaller gifts.

go down stairs and open the presents from under the tree, sit around messing with our new gifts and listening to x-mas music for a while.

then we all prepare x-mas lunch together, all eat this, then get changed and go out for a walk (and sledging if we're lucky enough for it to snow!!)

then at night we go out for a meal somewhere fancy, and watch x-mas movies and spend time together. i love christmas =]

and after x-mas we visit family, spend time at home, etc etc etc.

january sales are the best!!! lol

    x*x
