WHat happens to roadkills?

Who cleans it up on the road? What happens to the remains?

  1. since I found out I don't eat at roadside restaurants anymore


  2. animal control cleans it up then they take it to where they uthenize the animals and they go with animals who are being uthanized .

  3. Construction Workers, Animal Control, highway departments, state departments, city departments, trash collectors or community volunteers who pick up the roads. If the road kill isn't cleaned up it deteriorates and rots and it can be gross and horrible to look at for animal lovers who drive by it.

Have you seen those signs on the side of the road that say something like "This section of highway is picked up by the Smith Family"?  The folks that pick up the trash also have the right to pick up the roadkill.  Of course, they have to beat the ravens, buzzards, coyotes and the like that usually get there first.

  5. usually the state or town highway department picks them up, then they are incinerated.

    Or, they just get run over to the point that buzzards pick the carcass clean and carry it off into the woods.
