a good actress understands her character on all levels not matter how small the role is....

I would say a good actress should be confident in her abitilies and not afarid to take a role and make it her own. Also, don't be afarid to act out lines as dramatic as possible unless a director asks you to bring it down a notch. lol It's easier to bring down action a little bit that it is to add drama and volume.

Talent of course. Understanding, kindness, generosity, stamina, confidence, intelligence, passion, commitment. A good actress can not only "become" a truly beleivable character in a story but also needs to be very compelling to watch. Rawness, uniqueness, authenticity and stage presence is also a must.
