  1. Both 1 and 2 offer valid suggestions. BUT I might be confused as to what you mean by STUFF?

The MOST common DIY issue, and almost always critically immediate are minor plumbing problems. Toilets overflowing or not flushing, sinks becoming clogged, etc. Know where ALL the shut offs are, as well as cleanout plugs

On a lesser scale, minor electrical issues, beyond just changing light bulbs, but a DIY'r should have some respect for electricity, and knowledge. Water, overflowing in a bathroom, might get you wet, and cause you to have to put towels on the floor, but electricity, to someone naive, could knock them to the floor. Know your breaker box like you know your own name, and mark the breakers specific to the circuits that function off each breaker.

It can't hurt to have a can of WD 40 and a roll of Duct tape handy.

Even a simple tool kit would benefit you, such as a set of s***w drivers, two or three different types of pliers, some extras of the hardware that's used in sinks, toilets, wall switches, or receptacles, wire nuts, wire cutters, etc. You could acquire some knowledge about drywall repair, for the time the door k**b pokes a hole in the wall. Having painting supplies handy; Learning the steps to replacing a light fixture or ceiling fan, could be a benefit.

Obviously DIY covers a vast scope of "Things" as well as "Stuff" and very often stuff happens unexpectedly. There is "everything" to learn, and some things best left alone. You could have a garage full of tools, you may rarely use?
