WHere is best to place my clothes airer for maximum drying?

Somewhere warm - conservatory or a room in your house that gets the most sun.

well outside but if thats not possible, like chonies and bras, etc... use a garment rack and put them in your kitchen and put a fan on them.

Not the bathroom as there is probs too much moisture in the air from bath/ shower. If you have an outside balcony that is a good place, otherwise next to an open window (or in winter next to a radiator)

as high up as you can. heat rises and just like a dryer, heat dries clothes faster. also outside, that dries them good to with the sun...ummm, also in front  of a fan.
