I have many Wii point's and have downloaded many games, I need a compatible controller to play most of them but I am undecided as to which will be better overall for me to use? I like the idea of the Wavebird controller, but will it just be as good to buy a couple of hard wired gamecube controllers? Or the Wii classic controller?

  1. if it were me i would go with the classic wii controller

  2. well i just use gamecube controller, original one and it works well for me and is the cheapest.

  3. Wiimote and nunchuck will be compatible for many games. The classic controller is pretty much almost the same thing as the wiimote just different layout and obviously it won't be compatible with wii sports and wii fit.

The gamecube controller is obviously needed to play nintendo gamecube games. and it is also the most inexpensive one of all.

You are also going need the wiimote and nunchuck for guitar hero, rockband, and mario kart wii for the wii wheel. So, i will recommend you to buy a nunchuck for your existing wiimote and maybe a gamecube controller, since the classic controller is sort of the same thing as the gamecube controller and can't be compatible for gamecube games.

  4. I prefer the classic controller, its button layout makes most sense for most games.

  5. A GameCube controller is required to play GameCube games on the Wii (it is nearly fully backwards compatible with GameCube games).

Most games that have the option of using the Classic controller for input also are compatible with GameCube controllers (such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, or any SNES VC title)

In that case, it comes down to preference.  My girlfriend likes the Wavebird (she used to own a GC), and I prefer the Classic pad when we play Brawl together.

As a side note, the Classic pad can be used to control the cursor at the Wii Home menu, which GC pads cannot do.

  6. If you want to play virtual console games (the old games you download from the shop) then I highly recommend the classic controller.

The gamecube controller is compatible with some games, but the classic controller is compatible with all the games.

Some of the games aren't compatible with the gamecube controller. For example in Yoshi's Story for N64, if you use the gamecube controller, you can't use the groundpound attack for some reason, and therefore you can't get any further than the first level in the game. So basically, you can only play this game with the classic controller.

I'll bet that there are other games that require the classic controller as well.
