WHy are schoolbuses yellow?

Question

This is quite a simple question (no its not a riddle). Why is yellow the standard for schoolbuses. Is it because of yellowsnright color and peope can be aware of children in the area. If it was that couldn't it have been another bright color like orange? Or is it because schoolbuses had to be made recognizable as a schoolbus.

Just wondering.

The same reason firetrucks are red!  :D

Yellow is the industry standard & is recognized as a school bus. When you see a big yellow vehicle, the 1st thing that comes to your mind is that it's a bus.
