  1. if you have a full sized USP I'd get something smaller than a glock for CCW.  May I suggest the new Walther PPS in 9mm?  Very slim and thin, with 3 different magazine sizes to match the length of your hand as well as different backstraps to perfect the fit.

    Did I mention slim?

    check it out

  2. If you have a USP...why are you gonna by a glock?? You already have the best!

  3. The Glock 19 is:  Dependable, rugged, accurate as the shooter, hi cap and user-friendly.  Unlike your .45 acp the 9mm pistols need high velocity rounds to work best in defensive situations:  115 to 127 grain jacketed hollow points from any of major ammo makers work best.

But honestly, if you already own an H&K USP .45 Auto why do you need a Model 19 Glock?  Unless you like to own multiple guns it is easier to just shop around for a good concealement holster for your USP.  They are out there, you just have to look.  Try the inside-the-waistband holsters from outfits like Don Hume, Bianchi and Safari Land for starters.  There are others that are just as good.

  4. As you may know, the G19 is the compact version of the full size G17.  It should be easier to conceal than your full size USP.  Yet, the G19 is large enough for handling (shooting), and it should have good accuracy with the 4 inch barrel.

Glock also makes the G26, which is the subcompact version (smallest size), but it may be too small ergonomically.

I'll take a G19 for concealed carry, but I would buy the aftermarket external safety.

  5. While although the usp is a great gun u did buy it in .45 caliber which right now is costing almost 20 dollars a box of 50 rnds so trips to the range can add up dollars and with rising gas prieces and increased demand in copper and lead i dont see the cost of ammo lowering in the near future.  Buying the glock 19 copact 9mm glock would lower your ammo costs and ud have a glock which is also a great gun.  I own a glock 23 and love it. Ive fired a usp compact and my glock and the trigger pull on both guns are pretty similar double action pulls so u wont have too much trouble adjusting if u do buy it.  THe usp's pull is a little lighter on the break but its really similar after u handle the glock ull know what im talking about.  Another thing is the durability of a glock makes it prolly the best defense gun out there.  With good matinence or even bad matinence you can rely on the glock for a defense situation. Where with usp's and other guns a little more maitenence is required to keep it combat ready.  Both are polymer framed guns making them both light weigt and the glock 19 being compact will offer many choices in holsters and after market parts just because all glocks look the same.  Umm btw u dont wanna concealed carry with a gun in your crotch just b/c its not as safe as a holster and cops will think ur a criminal even if u have a ccw permit.

  6. then you shouldnt. whats the difference between the strength of 2 guns? as long as it does what you want it 2. injure (.22), injure/kill (.38), or blow his head off (.50) its all the same ****.

  7. I carry and love glocks.  A G17,26 and 20.  Personal opinions don't really matter here it's yours that counts but Glock are probably the most proven pure combat guns around...Yeahh...1911's too guys.

You might handle a G26.  If you are a novice you will find it hard to shoot as accurately but it's capable of as good a group as a 19 or 17.

    A 19 is a good compromise.

The main point I wanted to make and was touched on before is concealablity is completely dependant on have a Very good gun belt if using a belt holster.  Mine has a poly layer between two layers of leather.  They have to be very stiff....then find the right holster that hugs high and tight.  My G 20 is not that hard to conceal with the right holster.  G26 in a Desantis mini slide is near perfect.  Some Done Hume and other "Askins" style holsters have a belt slot on the side and one right behind the gun that pulls it in tight.  Put any of them on a flimsy belt and none of them work too well.

If you aren't comfortable having no external safey you probably don't want a Glock.  Having said that,  Make sure any holster covers the trigger gaurd and never carry one with one that does not, be it inside the pants, outside etc and never in your crotch with a wash cloth.  Ones finger should always be outside the trigger gaurd at all times anyway inluding and especially including when drawing from the holster.  You can never get enough training/instruction if you have any reservations or not much experience.

  8. One very good reason to buy the Glock 19 is if you need a handgun that is more compact than the USP.  If you are indeed in the market for a compact, highly reliable and accurate pistol, then the Glock fits the bill perfectly.

Besides, it's never  a bad idea to have an extra pistol. It is also never a bad idea to have a few rifles, a shotgun (better yet 3 of them in various gauges and action styles) and a store room full of all the ammunition you can carry and shoot.

  9. I don't think you should...I do not like Glocks but there are plenty of great handguns that should meet your needs for conceal carry. Springfield Armory XDs make a subcompact and a compact handgun (and you don't need to buy the after-market external safety), Taurus, Beretta, Para, all may have something better for you. Glocks work to but I do not like them...Personal preference.

Basically go to a gun shop and take a look at what they have. You already know why you want to buy a new CCW pistol. Carrying a full size pistol in the front of your trousers IS painful.
