Just wondering if anyone in Ohio got a breastpump provided through WIC or not. I had one with my younger son who is now 3 1/2 years old but not planning to have any more i got rid of it (wish I wouldn't as it was a good double medela) and now i don't have money to buy a new one but I really prefer to breastfeed and pump. So anyone gotten one from WIC?

  1. I don't know :(

1 - good for you for breastfeeding

2 - I was successful using a $9 manuel pump.  If you produce milk like I do, a cheap pump will work fine!

  2. ladyscientist -- what the f()ck is wrong with you? PLENTY of people are on WIC, not just "financially struggling" people. And why don't you explain to all of us how it is your call to say if this woman should or should not have any more children? NOT YOUR CALL. I hate people like this. & don't say because you "work full-time" and pay taxes that you have a say, you don't. I worked up until I was put on medication with my pregnancy from being so sick, and I got WIC, and there's nothing wrong with that. It saves a lot of money and don't complain because I'd say once your baby is born YOU will be on it too.

Anyway, just call & ask them. It won't hurt. Otherwise, just save up for one. I know stuff is expensive, BELIEVE me I know haha, but if it's really worth it to you it'll be worth it in the end.

CONGRATS! & good job for breastfeeding!

ADD -- looks like Kim right above me answered your question already :)

  3. I tried to get on WIC and could not.  The price of formula is scary.  I am going to breast feed for a while, and pump.  I need to check out some breast pumps.  I have heard that the medela is a good pump.

My sister was on WIC with both of her children.  She didn't want to go sign up at first.  But, I told her that we have both been working since we were 16 years old.  We have been paying taxes which pay for programs like WIC.  So it is just like my social security.  When I get older I will have no problem collecting my SS if it is still around.  I feel the same way about WIC.  I have helped pay for it, so I would not have had any problem accepting help.

  4. Well, I live in Michigan and WIC offered to give me a breast pump if I choose to breast feed
