  1. i love wic i just got my son signed back up for it he is almost 4, he had it when he was a baby and omg it helped us out so much! he ended up having to have special formula which was well over 25 bucks a can! they took us from 10 to 8 cans a moth but it was plenty for him he also had to have all of his bottles thickened with cereal which this helped out with too

no i dont like to see the nutritionist lol i hate it when people try to tell me im not feedig my son the right amounts ect...

no this will not make us eat healthier but it does allow my son more milk/juice which i rarely bought before wic cuz alot of times we dont use it and it spoils

cant say rather i like this certain utrisionist or not though since we just started and have seen her one time :)   WIC IS AWESOME expeciall when u make too much to get food stamps :(

  2. I have never used WIC, but drove someone back and forth to appointments (and went with her).

    1. I liked the willingness to explain ways of using the food provided.  Worker went further to include local prices of low-cost, healthy foods that could be incorporated with WIC foods for healthy, complete meals.  Other places to buy low cost foods (such as bakery outlets).

    2.  I did not attend the individual nutrition counseling with her.

    3. She ate healthier than before.  I doubt she ever bought fruit before the program.

    4.  At the time, the nutritionist was not very open to alternative eating styles - for instance, this person I was driving could not eat dairy products and she was on the pregnancy plan.  She asked to have more allowance for non-dairy items such as eggs.   If it was a rule of the program that there could be no substitutes, then say so.  She became quite frustrated ("I get less because I have a problem"). We were never able to find out if a doctor's note about her milk intolerance would have helped.  The general group nutritionist was fabulous, however.  She even addressed calcium needs for milk intolerant folks and where to get it, but wasn't the worker-bee who could change this lady's package.

  3. i have wic for both my children and myself because i'm pregnant and i love it. we are able to buy tons of healthy food, especially milk which my kids go through almost a gallon a day it seems like...they are full of info about breastfeeding and portion sizes for not only you but you children. i find the nutrtionists' opinion very helpful they are constantly focusing on my family's needs. and also in texas you get checks to go to the farmers market and get fresh fruits and veggies. i really like wic. and it's not for "poor" families either we make good money and we still qualify so why not take the benefits, right? it's for my children and i will never let someone else make me feel guilty for doing what's best for my children, and that is making sure they eat healthy. hope this helped a little.

  4. 1: i like the fact that i can get assistance on milk and eggs and even formula when i have my baby, i think that is awesome

2: i mostly find thier advice helpful, except they are VERY like into the exact amount of juice and stuff that your kid should have. i really like the lady i see though

3: when stuff that is healthy doesnt cost soooo much...it seems the healthy stuff is expensive and you can get a double cheeseburger for a freakin dollar

4: i like the lady i see very much she is very sweet and helpful.

  5. I like WIC because it helps families and single parents out a lot. Especially with the formula, cereal, and juice for the kids. I did see an nutrionist at WIC and did not like my nutritionist. She acted like I was stupid and that I didn't know how to count calories or watch my fat intake. She was not helpful at all and told me the same thing my doc told me about watching what I eat and etc. I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes with my last baby, afterwords I was told to lose 50Ibs so I would not be a candidate for Type II Diabetes. So I was sent to my doctor and WIC provided a nutrionist that did not know what she was talking about. The candidate for Type II Diabetes is what helped me eat healthier and to lse the weight. It was for me and my family. hope this helped!!!
