WICB and Gayle fail to reach an agreement – Cricket News Update
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) failed to reach a decision on Chris Gayle’s future when the two parties met in a high level meeting in Barbados today, Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister of St. Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves. The meeting was also attended by the chief executive of the West Indies Cricket Board Ernest Hilaire, WICB president http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Julian-Robert-Hunte-c69628 and officials from CARICOM.
Had the board and the player reached an agreement, the hard-hitting opening batsman would have returned to the national side for the remainder of the ongoing home ODI series against Australia, ending his year-long impasse with the board.
Sources from inside the WICB claimed that an agreement had been reached and had the consent of the board and CARICOM, but the former skipper was yet to sign the dotted-line.
Yesterday, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) secretary Fritz http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 revealed that the board will meet with the out of favour former skipper and is likely to bring him back in the latter stages of the home series against Australia.

priorities straight, and made it clear that the board will not issue him an unconditional NOC to play in foreign Twenty20 leagues.
This month, the Jamaican was left out of the preliminary 30-man squad for the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Despite being overlooked for selection, Gayle was spotted in the stands during the second One-Dayer between the two teams.
