WICB replaces Brendon Nash with Kirk Edwards for 2nd Test – Cricket News Update
Following Brandon Nash’s continuous out-of-form batting performances, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Anton-Edwards-c71510 to make the Windies’ batting line-up stronger. The two teams
are scheduled to play their 2nd Test at Bridgetown from June 28 to July 2.
The Caribbeans have already lost the 1st Test of the series of three. They also lost the 5-match ODI series to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Nash, the vice-captain and middle-order batsman, could score only 10 runs in his two innings of the last Test. He could not bat well during home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and ODI series against India either.
The only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/White-c96514 player in the Windies’ squad has not been able to come up to the expectations of the selectors and they have decided not to take more risk by playing him in the second Test.
Talking to the media today, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clyde-Godfrey-Butts-c51354, said, “It is clear that Brendan has been struggling for form for some time and we want to give him a chance to take some time away from international cricket and work on his
game. Brendan is a mentally tough cricketer and we are sure that he will be able to overcome the challenges he is now facing and come back strong.”

Nash was included in the squad with a view to empower the batting line-up but he disappointed badly.
The selectors think Kirk as an ideal substitute of Nash. Kirk, the 26-year-old right-handed batsman, is to make his Test debut tomorrow against the world’s No 1 Test side. He has played just 9 ODIs. However, the batsman possessed good batting averages in
the First-Class and List A formats of the game.
Kirk is confident of delivering match winning performance in his maiden Test in a bid to cement his place in the squad for the future games.
