WICB unhappy with Chris Gayle’s rigid behaviour – Cricket News Update
The battle between West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the blistering opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, continues since both parties continue blaming each other.
In an official statement, the governing body of the game in West Indies lamented over Gayle’s unchanged and unapologetic behaviour, as the Jamaica cricketer persisted on passing harsh statements against WICB.
"From his (Gayle's) latest statement and his expressed views in the meetings with the WICB, it would appear as though he is of the unshakeable view that he has conducted himself impeccably," said the WICB in a statement.
The conflict started when the national selectors overlooked Gayle for the recent Test and One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, reasoning that the opening batsman was not available for selection due to his participation in the cash-rich Indian
Premier League (IPL). In reply, Gayle dismissed all the allegations and slammed WICB for ignoring him deliberately.
Gayle’s exclusion from the ongoing series between West Indies and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Players’ Association (WIPA) tried to settle-down the matter between the two parties but the recent meeting ended without any result.
Recently, the cricket board vowed to continue efforts to resolve the dispute with the opening batsman, but at the same time, the governing body expressed frustration over Gayle’s vitriolic behaviour.
"There must be mutual respect and a commitment to put West Indies cricket first. The WICB has written to Gayle making it clear that it is willing to seek a compromise resolution. Gayle's position is that he has nothing to account for and expects to be automatically
reinstated to the West Indies team whenever he decides that he is available," added the statement issued by the governing body.
The board also suggested that Gayle should bring the matter to the table rather than making offensive statements against WICB in the local media.
The 31-year-old batsman recently signed a contract with Sydney Thunder for Australia’s lucrative Twent20 league, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Griffith-c919 Bash, scheduled to be held at the end of this year.
However, WICB has made it clear that Gayle will not be considered for national duties until he quits his inflexible attitude.
