WIDESCREEN TV,,I have just bought new 19"wide screen Tv for my bedroom. The picture dose not fill the screen

compleyly. about a half an inch missing at top and bottom. Is this normal.

there are several wide screen settings some don't fit the screen try adjusting the size mode on the remote

That settings usually used for a widescreen movie, so that its all in proportion on your tv, like in the cinema, there should be a button you can press to scroll through the screen sizes, 4:9 16:9 or something similar.

This is a function of the aspect ratio of the program sent out by the station. It happens when a 16:9 (aspect ratio) program is sent out via a 4:3 aspect ratio transmission medium. (A regular cable/satellite channel (non-HD) is playing a widescreen program)

The best that you can do is to change the aspect ratio of your TV set when this happens to 14:9  NOTE:  Fourteen x Nine) this will allow the program to fill most of the screen without stretching the picture to a noticeable degree.
