  1. You're gonna put your eye out

  2. >>Accuracy problems<<

It could be, the rifle, the pellets, your "hold", or a combination of the three.

Your rifle - You can reasonable expect 3/4 to 1in 3 shot groups at 30 yards.

Pellets - Airguns are very particular about the pellets they prefer. Even if you and I have the same make and model, chances are they would prefer different pellets.

"Generally" speaking air rifles in that power range are going to prefer pellets in the 7.8gr to 8.6gr weight range. I recommend good quality domed lead pellets, especially for hunting purposes.

    RWS - Superdome

    Crosman Premier Domed Light

    Beeman - Several options

    JSB* - Exacts

*Some rifles do well with JSB Predators, others are very inaccurate. If you have access to a few, you might give them a try.

Hold - Springers are a whole other animal - You can not hold a spring piston air rifle the same way you do a firearm and expect it to shoot well. If you are right handed - Find the balance point of your rifle with your left hand - The rifle should rest in your left palm, do not squeeze the rifle - the butt of your rifle should only rest against your shoulder, do not jam the rifle against your shoulder. Sight picture, breath control, squeeze the trigger, the same as you would with any rifle.

    >>Steady - bench rest<<

It's the same as with hold - Generally speaking air rifles don't like a solid rest, sandbags(etc) - I prefer to use a rolled up towel, under my left hand.

    >>Gamo PBA Raptor<< It's very-very unlikely those pellets would be accurate in your rifle. Pellets tend to become unstable and inaccurate as they approach and exceed the speed of sound.
