WINDOWS XP SOUND RECORDER?

Question

when I use my sound recorder, it goes for several seconds, and then I have to push the record button again. On my friends VISTA, on the sound recorder, I push the record button, and it doesn't stop until I push "stop recording"

My question is: Is there a way to do this with my XP sound recorder, in order to record a whole song? Thanks
