How long would you guess that someone would probably stay unconscious if they were SMASHED with a devastating shot on the "sweet point" of the jaw? WITHOUT medical personel trying to revive them with smelling salts,"HOW LONG do you think they could possibly lay there?

  1. I would say that it really depends on the person, ive seen people knocked out and get up in less than a minute, maybe even less than 30 seconds but on the other hand i have seen a person knocked unconcious from a punch to the jaw and as far as i know he didnt wake up until the following morning in a hospital bed but on that occasion i think that alcohol was involved so that maybe had a big part to play, so yeah what i would say is it depends on the person and the situation. I think the longest i have actually seen somebody out cold is about 25-30 minutes the ambulances were there but they wouldnt move him for fear of injuring him so he was left on the floor for quite a while and then just as they were about to take him to hospital he came round and refused to even get in the ambulance.

  2. I boxed professionally for 12 years and Amaturely for 9. I endured two KOs and both times I came to right away they were considered "flash" KOs and both times I beat the standing 8. I was in another world though so I'm not sure I was really there even though I was on my feet. I can't remember a single second of being "out" just instincts take over when you come to.  I lost both fights to TKOs immediately after I was allowed to continue and those were the only two times I was floored so I can only speak from those two experiences.

Note: I was pretty much a professional opponent, always in shape, taking fights at local casinos on short or no notice, I had a career in Law Enforcement the whole time. I fought for the love of the sport and the nice little pieces of change that came with the love. I was only floored twice and only received apprx 220 stitches on my face and head in 12 years (not many) My nose was only broken 4 times (I'm Italian and my beak is long) and never needed reconstructive surgery, but I wa knocked out twice but only needed smelling salts the next 3-4 days to get going in the morning cause you're wicked groggy for a week or so.

  3. The "sweet spot" or the point of the chin, when hit, causes the back part of your jaw bone to drive into that big bunch of nerves protected by the bony nob behind either of your ears.  You don't actually "loose consciousness", but you do lose the ability to control your balance, equilibrium and the function of your bodies muscles.  It usually takes between 15 and 30 seconds for you to regain control of your body.  You don't actually black out, and you can still think coherently, you just can't stand up or control your body.  The funny part is it doesn't take a tremendous amount of power to drop somebody if they get tagged on the "sweet spot", in fact you would be suprised how easily a light tap on the point of the chin can dislocate a jaw and drop someone.

Concussion induced unconsiousness, or blacking out, where you actually wake up later is caused by blunt trauma to the brain, where you brain actually spins or moves inside you skull from the impact of a blow.  This is obviously far more damaging, and sometimes people never regain consciousness.  It varies with the severity of the blow, and the individual.

  4. NO ONE KHOWS AS YOU MAY NEVER WAKE UP AS YOU MAY BE OUT COLD THEN TAKE ONE MORE AS YOU COULD  BANG YOU HEAD ON THE CAVAS ON THE WAY DOWN.

    BUT YOU SAID THE JAW.

Just the jaw  as we are not  all not the same so you cant put a time on it.

so its a question no one can answer as sure if you tested 2 men it would be diffrant each time

but ive seen kids out for 10 mins . but its somthing think about

when i was younger i was sparring and i got hit close to my elbow and next thing i new i was on my back my head was fine but felt like a shock of elct...  in my arm my legs just went

gone in 5 seconds i was up but it was a feeling i will never forget as you a wake not khock out i like whats up with me.

its feet like i was walking then the next step some took my legs away.

you have these points all over the body kong fu stuff they told me

  5. I don't think very long because a boxer trains for those kinds of things and expects it so I would say around 90 seconds maybe 2 mins max

  6. depends on the conditioning of the person, but when you get ko'd ....like a computer your brain shuts down, reboots, does a body check, then you start to "come to"

I'd say the average good conditioned person should take about  10-15 seconds to start moving again

a good conditioned fighter (that doesn't land on their head) will wake up as soon as you hit the ground.

  7. Honestly, it all just depends.  Sometimes you will see a case where someone is still "consciously unconscious" where they are off the canvas and moving but there obviously is nothing functioning.

When Arturo Gatti was KO'd by Alfonso Gomez last year, he was on his knees and trying to get up.  After the fight was stopped and he was on his stool, you see where his eyes wake up and he tries to get up and keep fighting.

I've seen instances where the knocked out fighter has been down for several minutes, sometimes 5-6 minutes and sometimes as much as 10 minutes.  And there are other times were the KO victim is obviously out but is up and alert after a minute or so.

  8. Well, I've never been knocked out by a punch anywhere to the head, but I have been knocked unconscious from running into a pole. If me pole experience helps at all, my friends and cousins, who witnessed the incident, said I was out for about five minutes before regaining conscious.

  9. perhaps you might want to write a letter to micheal moorer i bet he can tell you all about being hit on the jaw and kod

  10. It's called Maxillofacial trauma and it's impossible for anybody to answer your question regardless of how many times they claim to have been knocked out.

This question reminds me of the Mancini fight back in 1981.  The Korean told everybody before the fight that the only way Mancini could beat him, would be to kill him.  In the 14th round the Korean fell unconscious and didn't come to even twenty minutes later after they carried him out of the ring on a stretcher.  Four days later the Korean died.

Even Armatures suffer from Maxillofacial trauma and it  doesn't really matter what your weight class is because it takes the same amount of pressure to knock anybody out if hit properly on the pressure point that you indicated.

Everybody is different.  I've been knocked out twice, yet stayed on my feet and finished the fight, and not even the smell of a capsule helped me retrieve the ability to function normally.  Sometimes after a person is knocked out for the count they continue to not gain stability even an hour later while lying down during the Cat Scan exam.

Just because somebody gets up before the final count doesn't mean that he's thoroughly conscious.  But to answer your complicated question, please allow me to pull a few minutes out of my butt.  Okay, with no capsule, I'd say three to nine minutes.
