WIll Global warming cause us to freeze to death?

Electricity is going to get very expensive with all the new laws and regulations that are going to get passed and we will not be able to afford our heating bills, not that I can afford mine now.

no trust me on this. we wont freeze to death or burn up global warming will just cause temps to rise but nothing dramatic will probably happen.

the problem is that global warming will cause many other problems such as food shortages (notice where the food belt is. a few degrees will make all the difference), droughts, desertification, water shortages and stronger storms. sea level rises may also cause problems for low countries such as Burma.

It is a possiblity, as the ice melts and starts to change ocean currents.  The problem lies with the ocean current known as the Gulf Stream, which bathes the UK and north-west Europe in warm water carried northwards from the Caribbean. It is the Gulf Stream, and associated currents, that allow strawberries to thrive along the Norwegian coast, while at comparable latitudes in Greenland glaciers wind their way right down to sea level (or used to!!). The same currents permit palms to flourish in Cornwall and the Hebrides, whereas across the ocean in Labrador, even temperate vegetation struggles to survive. Without the Gulf Stream, temperatures in the UK and north-west Europe would be five degrees centigrade or so cooler, with bitter winters at least as fierce as those of the so-called Little Ice Age in the 17th to 19th centuries. And you are right regarding heating bills etc, but also dont forget that the society we live in has become practically defenceless. I think that a lot of people would struggle to collect fresh water, cook over an open fire or hunt if they could not 'google' it first, and lets face facts it could become a little bit difficult to log on...

Of course not.

The moment it becomes an inconvenience to those in political power, or those with all the wealth, it will change.

Either they will finally get around to subsadising solar - wind - and hydro power plants like they should have all along, or they will lift any laws slowing the use of fossil fuels.

Sadly, it will probably be the later, as they get kickbacks for it.

You do know that the ozone can repair itself over time.  But we are making so much pollution, we are destroying it faster than it can repair itself.

It might happen. Originally, Earth's atmosphere is shrinking so rumor has it that the sun will get too bright for us and there will be too muck U.V. light so we wont be able to support it. I had to do a report on this. =]

Amazing you would mention that. Several meteorologists are saying we will soon enter a period of reduced sunspot activity and that will serve to cool the earth somewhat.

As far as getting so bad we will freeze, I can't comment intelligently other than to suggest you start now stocking up on  extra winter clothes, blankets and sleeping bags.

No, we will not freeze because the sun's rays will pass directly to us that will cause us sickness such as eye cataract, skin cancer and many more.
