  1. Here are some websites you could check out to see current jobs in that field. It never hurts to do some research before hand.

    www.monster.com

    www.jobsinal.com

    www.findjobsbyzip.com

    www.al.com/jobs

  2. It will be very hard. Try working in Texas !i

  3. An associates degree won't be worth very much.  Law firms are looking for bachelors degrees.  It is going to hard for you to find work as a paralegal ANYWHERE in the country right now.  There just aren't enough jobs to go around.

WARNING:   Jobs in the field of Law are drying up fast!!!  This is not a good field to invest in right now.  Reasons:   very bad economy, people now (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, there are way TOO MANY law schools in this country (USA) churning out way TOO MANY graduates (and this includes legal support staff).  IF you do find a job, you will find the environment is very political and competitive, administrators typically do not have the employees' best interests in mind.

Suggestion:   Go into the field of Healthcare <<< LOTS of jobs there!!

  4. Be sure to attend an ABA certified school if at all possible. A certification or degree from one of those is much more valuable than a non-certified school.

Second, there is no ABA test you can take. You mean the CLA certification from National Assoc of Legal Assistants.  That is an independant organization.   It takes 2 days.

Depending on your area, paralegals are in demand. I am considering going to school in LA.
