WLAN Problem

Hi, I have a notebook which I have not used for 5 months when starting up it now says WLAN disabled - I looked up on how to switch this on and have checked the bios, this said it was enabled? I have no network/internet connection so am lost as to what to do next? can anybody offer any advice
