  1. I'm 39 and we just adopted a baby. We've been married for 5 years and have never used birth control. We chose to not create children by any artificial means because there are many out there that need homes. We started thinking we wanted an older sibling group out of foster care and this little guy came along. We haven't totally discounted the idea of of older kids, but we're going to be much more selective of what issues we'll be willing to accept.

  2. NO. not at age 40+

I would prefer to wait and be a grandma

  3. It depends. If you were pretty healthy and think you would live long enough to see them through college, then yes. (If you're considering IVF then I'm assuming you definately have enough to raise this kid and put them through college...)

You should probably use donor eggs, because the risk for having a kid with autism or Down's Syndrome skyrockets when you get older.

It's also not worth wrecking your health having a baby at 40+ if you're at risk for diabetes, lupus, or major health problems already.

Another option would be to take some foster kids into your life... They're older already and theres tons of 'em who'd love a mom. It benefits the community you live in, and they are more easy to get than adopting say, a foreign baby. Plus you can take older kids out to amusement parks and travel with them, which are things you might not want to do with a little baby.

  4. No, I would consider adoption. There are tons of kids out there who need a good home. (I am 40 and childless by choice.)
