I do marketing for my brothers Auto Repair shop & am doing research on WOMEN customers. I would like to know from women what are the most important things to you in searching/or with your current auto repair shop? Please give a list from #1 priority to the least. I would also like to know if the location of the shop is of importance to you over trust/relationship? We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to make women welcome & comforatable in our shop! :) Thanks in advance!

  1. Trustworthy

    Price

    Convienient

Can I get in and out

    Clean

  2. 1.  I want to be able to get in and get out.I hate waiting for my car to get fix while the mechanic is doing everythig but that.

    Location isn't treally important.

    2. Reasonable prices also. Dont try to get over on us women

    3. A nice waiting area would hurt either. I went to this one place who had dirty couches from like the seventies. It was so gross.

  3. ***The most important thing is to always let the customer know what you are doing.  If 20 minutes has gone by and you have not gotten to their car yet let them know.  Everyone hates going somewhere where the communication is lousy, especially women.***

#1 They are interested in knowing what the customer wants and not just making suggestions.

#2 They are not telling you what they are going to do, but asking what you want them to do about the problem.

#3  They are patient on the phone as well as talking with the customer in person

#4 They are trying to take care of your car in the same manner and speed as the other customer's cars

#5 If you are waiting for your car, they make sure you are comfortable in the waiting area.

#6 They make sure they maintain good eye contact. (this for lots of reasons)

#7 Try to show the customer what the problem is as best as they can as well as explain it.

#8 If you have any unruly woman come in, make some excuse that they cannot work on her car.  These type of women usually keep the trouble coming.  And remember, she may come back for more work.  This will also take other customers away from your business.

As far as location, most woman will go wherever the best trust/relationship is.  But of course, you need to be in one of the best high traffic areas to get good business from both men and women.

  4. I would never search for a shop on my own. I get recommendations from family members, and then make sure the mechanics know how I was referred. That way they know if they pull anything, they will lose more than one customer.

Sorry if it sounds like I am generalizing a bit that all mechanics are out to rip women off, but I have had very bad experiences in the past with shady mechanics.

  5. 1. trust

    2. prices/value for money

    3. recommendations

    4. reliability

    5. helpfulness

    6. extra qualities, e.g over the phone help, webpage etc

  6. Not making me feel like an idiot. I can't tell you how many times someone has tried to charge me for things I didn't ask for assuming I didn't know what they were talking about.

I know enough to do most of the basic maintenance on my own but usually don't have time. I like a place that's close to where I live and that has a parking lot that feels safe, so if I do have to leave my car there its not parked around a corner out of sight.

Here's a thought too, if there is,  say a nail salon near your brothers shop strike a deal with them, lets say if a woman makes an appointment to have their oil changed then  a discount off a nail service is provided and if she schedules her nail then a discount on an oil change is offered.

Its boring waiting in a lobby while your car gets worked on.

ooh and if its a hair place the guys can get a trim too , If they want that is.

  7. #1 credentials

    #2 friendliness

    #3 quality

    #4 cost

#5 if the service is good, location doesnt matter! as long as it is not dark and gloomy!

  8. since your other answers arnt so sucussfull, ill give you one.

    1. i look for a clean one,

    2. i call them first and ask if they have what i need and if the person who answers sounds like hes gussing, i dont go their.
