I work at a daycare in Boston I need a excuse not to work with the infants, the reason why I dont want to work with the infants because Im frightened that I will fall with them or hurt them because when I was younger I accidently broke my niece arms when I felled with her and ever since I was scared to even hold another infant so i would rather work with the preschool children. Also I tried to tell them this but they wont listen.

  1. i think the best thing you could do is try to get over your phobia, ask if you can gradually make your way over there, maybe one day a week, and then 2 days etc.

  2. You could tell them that all your training is in preschool aged children and that you don't have as much knowledge about infants.  Also, if they don't accept your answers you can always look for another job.  There is a huge turnover with daycare workers, so there are usually places looking to hire.

  3. You don't need an excuse.  Just tell them you'll accept the job but not if you are working with the infants.  If they ask why just say it's your personal preference.
