WORLD CUP 2010: Fabio Capello agrees on contract till 2012
The English Football Association has made an extension offer to the national team Manager Fabio Capello. The named extension is more similar to a brand new and advanced contract between the two from which the loop-hole for departing has been abolished.

Capello who is turning 64 on the 18th of June signed the contract which dates till the year 2012. He took over the managerial post in January 2008 from Steve McClaren and is only the second foreigner to coach England.

The Italian had an escape clause in the previous contract which has now been abolished. This could help both the Football Association as well as him as speculations regarding his departure for greener pastures have been quashed. There were offers made by Inter Milan to him after the departure of José Mourinho to Real Madrid.

The previous deal gave him the opportunity to manage Inter Milan for a period of two years but the scenario has come to an end. Capello is considered the cream at the top when the most successful coaches in the world are considered. He has the achievement of winning the domestic league title with all the teams he has coached. Some of the major clubs that he coached include AC Milan (1st spell), Real Madrid (1st spell), AC Milan (2nd spell), Roma, Juventus, Real Madrid (2nd spell) and currently, he’s got the remote control for England. He has scored major achievements with all of them.

The Italian maestro confirmed the contract with Lord Triesman in a meeting, but his resignation from the Football Association had disrupted the progress from the official contract. However, Capello had a meeting with Club England’s Chairman Sir Dave Richards and the new contract was signed.

This information has given the desired motivation that the English team required after the dismal performance which was clearly not up to standards. The 23-man-squad from ‘The Three Lions’ has arrived in South Africa. In order to prepare for the grand finale, Capello has arranged a match against the South Africans to generate some match practice for the players.

Capello and his men have let down their fans in recent performances especially their undeserved victory over the Japanese team. In order to change this scenario, they will play a friendly match against the South African PSL Side Platinum Stars club in a hurry.

General Manager of Dinaledi, Jason Raine told the media that the match will be hosted at the Moruleng Stadium which is in the North Western Province of South Africa.

He said, “Unfortunately the match will only be attended by a few people and by invitation only.”

The PSL team which is commonly known as the Platinum Stars will play against England at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium which is their home ground. Despite the lethargic performances by England, Capello has stated that the whole team is fully focused to win the World Cup.

He told the media that landing for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa has totally refreshed his along with the minds of his 23 men to bring the trophy back home with them.

He told media that his players were eagerly waiting for the encounter on June 12 with the United States of America. Capello further said that he had a couple of surprise strategies lined up in the match which will give the world a totally new perspective on The Three Lions attack.

Talking to the media, Capello said, “Together with my staff we will do everything we can to achieve our goal. The players are excited and determined to play their part”.

There was news by FIFA that the English fans had bought the lowest percentage of World Cup tickets this year, but in the end, the English did respect their passion for football and a bigger attendance is expected. Capello in relation to ticket sales communicated to the media that, “The fans of England are the best in the world and we will be doing all we can do reward their loyalty".

He also said, “I understand the pressure, the confidence of the country in this team and I am much focused. We have the players together as a group and it is like a club environment".

The English are drawn up with USA, Algeria and Slovenia in Group C where they face their first match against the USA on the 12th of June at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
