WORLD OF WARCRAFT QUESTION. HELP!?

Well yeah, I've been told that if I purchase World Of Warcraft (the first one with the purple elf on the front) then I'll get the first 30 days free! great, but today i went to gamestop and confirmed that i get the 30 days free and some guy said "Yes you do get 30 days free, but you still have to pay for one month in order to start playing, you pay 15 dollars AND THEN you get 30 days free" Is this true? i thought that if I buy world of warcraft, I get the first 30 days free, then after the 30 days, THEN I have to start paying 15 dollars a month to play.

You have to activate playing your account using a credit card..then your free 30 days starts, but they don't actually start charging you until those 30 free days are over.
