WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson all set for Sheffield Half Marathon – Snooker News
Snooker governing body around the globe, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has always been a great fund raiser for different charity organisations. The body also launched its own charity organisation on Paul Hunter’s name. The
Paul Hunter Foundation is one of the major charity organisations working worldwide.
Recently the WPBSA announced a half marathon to be raced for the fund raising campaign of the Paul Hunter Foundation. All big guns of snooker are participating in this marathon which will be launched in Sheffield. The WPBSA chairman, Jason Ferguson is also
preparing to take part in the Sheffield Half Marathon and play his part as a member of the body.
The marathon will be attended by the likes of the former six-time World Snooker Champion, Steve Davis, former champ and the 2012 China Open winner Peter Ebdon, Liam Highfield, Michael Holt, Daniel Wells and many others. The WPBSA chief is very excited about
the initiative and is feeling happy to be a part of the fundraising campaign.
While speaking to the local media, Ferguson said, “I feel that I should be out there supporting the players on the front line. I am very proud of the work that the Paul Hunter Foundation does in terms of supporting snooker and giving children an opportunity
in life through sport.”
The former Top 32 player added, “He came from a humble background and snooker changed his life, and the Foundation aims to give as many people as possible the same kind of opportunity. I have no idea whether I can do it and I've only been able to fit in
a bit of training when my schedule allows.”
The Sheffield Half Marathon is a 13-mile racing challenge which will be launched on Sunday, May 27 round the streets of Sheffield. The 42-year-old Ferguson is aiming to raise as much money as they can from the marathon as it involves major names of snooker
that are equally loved and followed around the UK and the World.
Meanwhile, the former World Snooker Champion, Shaun Murphy of England was supposed to take part in the marathon but due to a his foot injury, he will not be able to participate which saddens him because he has always been in the fore front of every charity
activity.
