WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson urges amateurs to take part in 2012 Q School
Deadline for entries of the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) will fall on March 23, 2012 and the chairman of World Professional Billiard and Snooker Association (WPBSA), Jason Ferguson is urging the amateur potters to register as soon as they
can to win a two-year pro tour card.
The Q School 2012 is the second successive launch of Barry Hearn initiated competition to hunt the snooker talent across the globe and give them a chance to play with the professionals and polish their snooker skills. Ones who took advantage of this opportunity
last year and played in the professional circuit are now recognised faces around the world, appreciated by the snooker fans.
The entries for 2012 Q School are open to every single potter who wants to earn a place in the professional circuit. The entrants are encouraged to read the terms and conditions of the event before registering themselves as participants. The event will be
played at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, the city that is home of snooker.
The 2012 Q School will feature 12 amateur snooker players from three events who will participate in the pro events. This year all 12 Q School qualifiers will earn a two-year pro tour ticket which will mark them as professional players for the next two years
and they will be able to perform in the qualifying session of all professional snooker tournaments for the seasons 2012-13 and 2013-14.
Speaking to the Word Snooker, WPBSA Chairman Ferguson said, “We're urging all budding players to make sure they don't miss out on Q School this year and get their entries in as soon as possible. This time we are offering a TWO YEAR TOUR CARD to all 12 players
who qualify from Q School.”
He added, “That's so important for professional players because it gives them time to adjust to the main tour and means they are under less pressure in their first year. To be able to play snooker as a career with the chance to take on the best players and
compete for huge sums of money is the dream for any player.”
This time, the WPBSA organising committee will launch a new Q School ranking list with players to be ranked according to per frame victory in the event so that players can see their progress.
