WR Andre Johnson’s availability crucial to Houston Texans 2012 season success – NFL News
The Houston Texans hope wide receiver, Andre Johnson, is able to deal with his injury problems at earliest possible, given his uninterrupted availability will be crucial to the stability of their receivers’ situation.
With the star quarterback, Matt Schaub, returning from a Lisfranc injury, Texans would like to have the receivers fully fit and available throughout the season and lately many game analysts have questioned Johnson’s ability to remain in the squad regular
next season.
Andre missed most part of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season with a hamstring injury and again is out of the present offseason workout activity due to arthroscopic knee procedure he had last month.
His return to the squad is expected before training camp but in wake of the fragile health of the WR, it will not be a surprise if he misses the deadline.
Yet Schaub hopes it is not the case. The star QB is coming off almost a half-season miss due to an injury and expects to see his receivers fully fit and available. In case of Johnson’s absence, the QB will certainly have some difficulties in getting his
passes received and carried forward.
Interestingly, Texans were quarterback-thin last season but managed well to overcome the situation. This year, their receivers’ situation has so far turned out to be the similar one. However, overcoming the receivers’ situation might not be possible for
them.
For the QB position they had rookie, T.J. Yates who held up their hopes at the time of the need. No one is there to step into Johnson’s shoes, though.
Some independent analysts have pointed out the problem to the team management. It looks the coaches too know that they will be facing some challenges in having their receivers strength intact throughout the season.
The team’s total dependence on Johnson has already exposed them at the receivers’ position. They hope the player does not go through as many problems as he did last year.
The managers have kept the cards on the alternative to Johnson's absence closer to their chest. There is also a possibility they do not have any alternative at the moment.
